Someone recently asked me why I do what I do.
It’s a good question to ask yourself in every area of your life. When we know our motivation for why we do something, it takes on a much deeper meaning.
When I discovered energy work and the symbolic world of shamanism, everything that had never quite made sense before suddenly did. All the unasked questions of my life were explained, and I found a belonging I had always yearned for.
The ability to help people understand why they are how they are, and how to heal the parts that are not helping them, brings me immense satisfaction, joy, and a feeling of connection to the greater collective.
Being in alignment is our greatest power.
Alignment leads to flow.
But what I’ve also discovered over the years is this:
We cannot do this alone.
Yes, there are countless books on self-development, spiritual faith, healing, and an abundance of courses, coaches, and gurus.
Much of our self-awareness can rev up after a big “Aha!” moment when we hear or read something that makes the penny drop. But when we’re in the thick of our own stuff, it’s often hard to see our direction clearly or feel through the broken pieces to find the right path.
Sometimes we’re just tired. We can’t drum up the energy to push forward when we’re uncertain.
Where Guidance and Accountability Come In
This is where guidance and accountability make all the difference.
I recently joined yet another marketing course for a year—even after swearing “never again,” because I usually regret joining the moment I do. They so often make false promises and then leave you to figure it all out by yourself.
I’m not against “figuring it out,” but when you sign up and pay thousands for a course, I do expect actual tuition and some hand holding!
This time, I am finally getting that one-to-one attention and hand holding in an area I’m not overly confident about. And just having someone:
- show us step by step what we have to do
- insist that we check in every single day that we’ve actually done it
…takes things to a whole new level.
Not only do I have to fill in a chart, I also have to put my work in another place to prove I’ve done it.
Guess what?
It makes me show up.
I’m pretty good at showing up for my healing and coaching work. But for marketing and all the things I don’t absolutely love? Like most humans, I can find 101 reasons not to do it… until now.
It’s Not Just Accountability—It’s Being Seen
It’s not just accountability—it’s cheerleading too.
In this online world, which has become so fragmented and disconnected, it’s much harder to get your “warm and fuzzies.” In Transactional Analysis, this is called getting “strokes”—those little moments of acknowledgement that remind us we exist, we matter, and we’re doing okay.
That’s why it’s been shown that the hundreds of small, superficial interactions we have are actually so important: we’re continually being affirmed at some level. Isolation, on the other hand, is a killer.
Being left to watch 20 hours of recorded videos on your own, or to research things you don’t fully understand by yourself, is not accountability.
There’s no guarantee you’ll actually do it, and no celebration when you do.
Even though marketing is my number one “ugh” in business, with daily accountability, celebration, and live attention, I am:
- getting the work done
- staying out of overwhelm
- feeling satisfied because I’m being witnessed and received
Is it suddenly my favourite thing to do?
No.
But it’s a whole lot easier because of accountability + celebration + attention = clarity.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
If you work with me for a year, you will receive all of that—and more.
You’ll have so many aha moments.
You’ll start to explore things you’ve avoided so far because of fear.
But it won’t be scary, because you won’t be doing it alone—and you’ll be looking at things from a totally different perspective.
Isn’t it time to:
- unearth your authentic self?
- speak your truth?
- find your true purpose?
If your answer is even a gentle yes, then:
Book a call. I’d love to speak with you and help you identify which key areas or aspects of your life need to change to bring you into aligned flow.
You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
You’re not meant to.
