Happy New Year 2025!
Last night my youngest son Roam and his beautiful wife Shenny and I went out to The Eel Bar for an absolutely exquisite dinner.
Wild combinations of food that exploded into Heaven in our mouths! It was a festive vibe.
During dinner the actual Heavens opened and thunder and lightening along with a deluge of rain opened on The Big Apple. Our plans for crossing the Brooklyn Bridge to witness fireworks were scuppered, so we counted our blessings instead.
Over dinner we discussed 2024: It is good to reflect and appreciate.
What was the one small moment that really impacted each of us?
What were we most proud about? For another and ourselves.
What was the best food of the year? My kids are foodies, I was quite present with the dinner in front of us which had to qualify!
What was the best trip and favourite place visited in the year? We are all travellers and have had a year of fabulous adventures which I was happy to reflect upon because in 2023 I affirmed that in 2024 I would start travelling again, and I did!
Who is the most memorable new person we’ve met this year? We each had a list of at least 3 new people!
If something unexpected were to have happened, that didn’t, what would have made you thrilled? I said any of my kids having babies…no pressure!
What did we learn?
What are we most grateful for? For this answer we all agreed: FAMILY.
Coming back to my homeland has been a beautiful connective trip. It’s deeply impacted how important my familial connections are, both blood and extended family. Also, life friendships with people I almost never see but who have been an integral part of who I have become.
New York is crazy! A hundred million people everywhere all at once. Wow. I am so blessed and grateful I do not live in a city! But it’s been so much fun to be here, feel the vibe and explore!
I walked nearly 30,000 steps yesterday, almost the entire length of the city and part way back with a satisfied grin on my face.
If you are separate from your family, find the friends you can call family. We need close connections in our lives.
