Go Back To Your Roots To See How Far You’ve Come!

I’m currently in Spain, in the Basque country, visiting a friend. I’ve come over to work with a colleague of hers, and it’s really interesting.

Twenty years ago, I started my private healing practice in Salobreña Spain, in the old town, on the south coast. I spoke very little Spanish at that time.

Now I’m not practiced, so using my Spanish brain is challenging, because you’re using both halves of your brain at the same time. I’ve had to look up a million words that I used to know. It’s been intense but also very entertaining.

Reconnecting with a girlfriend that I haven’t seen in a long time, telling a lot of stories from the past, from when I was just starting. And talking deeply and openly about spiritual evolution.

It’s made me feel very empowered, because talking about all of those years when I was first starting out as a healer, learning by working with people, makes me extremely aware of how differently I feel now.

People used to say I was so brave, diving right into work as a healer. Well, sure, I wanted to apply what I had learned and I continued to study. Could I help those clients that I had back then more now, because of all the things that I’ve learned over the years? Certainly.

But you’ve got to start somewhere and you learn a lot by actually doing the work.Your clients mirror back to you, your own stuff! That’s why you can heal more deeply and quickly when you start to work with people.

So here I am back in Spain after all of these years, doing deep shamanic work, which is really exciting. When I took my business online, I kind of veered more towards coaching with a healing element over these last few years.

But the roots of my work and my path are shamanic. I like working with my hands on people. I like pulling energetic stuff out of my clients. I like moving energy around with my rattles and working with fire and balancing people’s energy, hands on.

I also love doing the belief work, because it’s extremely powerful. Merging these modalities together is what my unique selling point was all of those years ago. But often in the healing world, people think they’ve already dealt with and healed the past, and so it’s done and they don’t need to look at that again. Maybe not…

But this certainly isn’t the first time I’ve gone back to my roots, because we heal in layers. The outside layers, the surface stuff, comes off first, and then the deeper we can go. Because maybe you can’t go that deep to begin with, because you need to heal some surface stuff first, and then as you do more work, the deeper layers start to open up.

But just because you’ve healed something at one level in your journey doesn’t mean that it’s completely done forever. Because we have a default program; the wounding that we had is always going to be the wounding that we’ve had, but how we deal with it, and what our relationship is to it, is what we are changing.

The further you go in your journey of self discovery and healing, of course, deeper layers of the same default programming are going to come up so that you can look at them from a new perspective and either heal another layer you didn’t see before, or simply appreciate the trip down memory lane.

For me coming to Spain and working here again, in Spanish, doing deep shamanic work, is like revisiting all of the passionate reasons that put me on my path in the first place. I’ve been reclaiming my shamanic power and reviewing the roots of why I originally became a healer.

I used to be in corporate training, but I passionately wanted to help people shift energetically, which is why I went on the healing path. Remembering the stories of old makes me see how much I’ve  overcome in 20 years, how much I’ve learned, how much I’ve taught, how much I’ve shared with other people, and how much I’ve healed the old emotions from the past.

Whatever you think that you’ve already healed, it’s a good practice to go back and revisit that, even if you’ve moved, go back to where you used to be. Look at the roots, look at where you’ve come from.

When I first moved to Spain, I had just left my marriage. I was the saddest I’d ever been. Yet here I am now feeling extremely joyous, in all of my power and not grieving. It’s a whole different energy.

You can have a great big reframe, and it can be extremely empowering and wonderful. Whatever you think you’ve healed, it’s okay. Go have another look at it, if you have the opportunity and see how you could look at it in a different way from your current, joyful, empowered state.

You might feel even more empowered than you realize that you could!

It’s so exciting to have a good review every now and again, and I can help facilitate that process for you. Certainly, if you want some hands on energy work, everybody needs their energy balanced on a regular basis, so please, especially if you’re in Ilkley or near Yorkshire, book a call!
