God and Make-up

I was called to…I had the deepest urge to…I couldn’t NOT…Something just came over me!

Have you ever felt that way?

Four weeks ago my best friend’s sister Sam, who is a DJ was talking about her gig in Ibiza, “in about a month.”  Next thing we knew, my best friend and her daughter (my God daughter) and I were ALL going to Ibiza too!

Being the week BEFORE the party season officially started, and with DJ’s in the know for guidance on best venues etc. plus ridiculously inexpensive flights and accommodations – well, it would have been rude NOT to go! It felt like Divine Inspiration!  Wasn’t planning a trip, didn’t see one happening, and voila! Here we are.

I had no idea Ibiza was so upmarket! I had heard about all the partying, but I didn’t realise it came with seriously chic (and boho hippy chic too) and perhaps some of the coolest jewellery I have ever seen from affordable, to splurging, to the absolute dream.

I have been to many Mediterranean islands, most in the Caribbean, and to many countries worldwide. I appreciate looking in shops to see what different cultures are offering.

I am inspired by beauty, and boy is there a lot of it here! I love different things from the norm and adore shopping on my travels because then “that dress” will always be my Ibiza dress, complete with memories.

I am also inspired by turquoise water and blue skies with a properly hot sun beaming down. I feel so self nurtured when I am in the sunshine.

Having started a major detox March 1st I had been absolutely pure for the six weeks running up to this trip, and decided that I would do my best to maintain this new regime.

I’ve been totally off of sugar which means no alcohol, and although it would have been lovely to have a glass of wine with dinner or the “on the house” bubbles gifted to our joyously happy dancing table, I was inspired to stay off of sugar to really give this detox a proper try for at least six months.

I’ve been extremely pleased to have maintained my detox without feeling like I’m missing out on anything. Fabulous food at exquisite venues with enough of a selection so I can eat what I need to without being too picky, and never hungry.

I’ve felt inspired being with girlfriends 24/7, loving what each of us brings to the table. With 3 minds working together we’ve resolved problems, had hilarious moments, supported and validated each other and shared laughter, dancing and lots of beach walking. We’ve found the best buys for each other, and have stuck together. It’s been a beautiful week in flow.

We still have a couple of days to go explore nature which in itself is the most inspiring thing there is, as nothing beats natural beauty and wonder.

Often I am inspired by spiritual awareness, a sudden epiphany, or just the sheer joy of being a woman. I’ve often laughed with my girlfriends talking about “God and Make-up”.  It all goes into the pot of what inspires you, free from judgement.

The music scene here is vast. Some of the music we refer to as “doof-doof” music, basically no tune, just too much base over and over and over.  Today another category we unfortunately couldn’t avoid hearing as we walked by, we called “Pain.”

I don’t think these will be terms that catch on somehow, but the music that inspires us is the kind that we can’t NOT dance to! And luckily we’ve experienced some of that with sandy feet having rocked on up from the beach.

Inspiration doesn’t always come from something wonderful. You can receive bad news and be inspired to turn things around.  Getting out of your normal day to day routine can inspire all sorts of new ideas, decisions, and choices moving forward.

And then when you return to your reality, you can hold that inspiration in a new space. I like to live my life in flow and when inspiration suddenly brings me to the sunshine with another opportunity to speak Spanish, I feel divinely held.

Yes, we took action to make this trip happen, but it felt like it was delivered to us on a silver platter. That’s inspiration! Don’t talk yourself out of it whatever you do!

You never know what you’re going to get out of it! Thirty-six years ago when I was inspired to go hiking and camping (something I didn’t do back then) in Australia and New Zealand with a friend, I had no idea I’d meet my future husband which would bring me to live in England!

And if I hadn’t followed that inspiration, I wouldn’t have my two amazing sons or be here having this inspiring holiday now!

Inspiration is a Heavenly gift. How you receive it and what you decide to do with it, is up to you, but always follow it!
