The Hidden Contracts We Make at Birth: Are You Still Living by Them?

Our earliest experiences shape us more than we realize—especially the moment of our birth.

Without even knowing it, we can carry deep, invisible vows that get formed in those first moments of life. Things like:
“I have to struggle to survive.”
“Love isn’t safe.”
“It’s not safe for me to be here.”

These beliefs aren’t made with words—they’re felt, imprinted deep in the nervous system. And often, they come from how we entered the world.

Let’s say your birth was difficult. Maybe there were complications. Maybe you were breech, born backwards, or needed an emergency c-section. Maybe your mother went into labor in a stressful situation—stuck in traffic, or far from help. Maybe you were born into a family going through a crisis or living right on the edge financially.

Even if you don’t consciously remember it, your body does.

When birth is full of stress, pain, or fear, it can leave behind a message. A quiet inner script that says, “Life is hard,” or “I’m only safe if I fight.”

But here’s something important:
Birth isn’t always a struggle.

Birth is a dance. The baby isn’t just being born—it’s also actively birthing itself. With each contraction, more neurons fire. More connection is happening. There’s a completing process unfolding.

When everything flows, it can be a powerful, natural, even beautiful rhythm. But when there’s disruption, that rhythm gets interrupted—and the body remembers. The emotional body, the energetic body, the subconscious—all of it stores the imprint.

Sometimes those imprints become the very beliefs that shape our lives.

If your mother’s pregnancy was full of stress, if your birth was traumatic, or if survival felt uncertain at any point—you might still be living by a subconscious belief that was made in those moments.

That’s not your fault. It’s not even your mind’s doing. It’s something much deeper than that.

But here’s the good news:
These unconscious vows can be uncovered—and healed.

You don’t need to remember your birth story in detail. You just need to be curious. Pay attention to the patterns that play out in your life. The themes. The struggles. The stories you find yourself repeating.

This is a powerful area to explore.

When we go back to the beginning—when we listen to the body’s memory, to the emotional traces left by our earliest moments—we open up the possibility for real freedom.

You don’t have to carry the struggle forever.
You don’t have to live by vows that were never truly yours.
